With some editing, I think this will be fine for submitting to Lightspeed&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/submissions.johnjosephadams.com\/queers-destroy-sf\/submit\/\">Queers Destroy Science Fiction!<\/a> special issue. It&#8217;s been so long since I came up with a story idea and actually wrote it in this short a time &#8211; I got the idea last night just before bed, and started writing today after breakfast. New story yay!<\/p>\n<p>* * * <\/p>\n<p>And now for some stories I&#8217;ve enjoyed from others this past week: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/strangehorizons.com\/2015\/20150126\/1owls-f.shtml\">The Truth About Owls<\/a> by Amal El-Mohtar (in <em>Strange Horizons<\/em>, originally published in the <a href=\"http:\/\/kaleidoscope.twelfthplanetpress.com\/?page_id=140\">Kaleidoscope<\/a> anthology): This story is utterly wonderful. It contains many of my favourite things, such as multilingualism (Welsh, Arabic, yay!), Welsh mythology, and a solid emotional punch. Also, owls! <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/uncannymagazine.com\/article\/pockets\/\">Pockets<\/a>, also by Amal El-Mohtar (in <em>Uncanny Magazine<\/em>): A charming story with subtle strangeness.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/uncannymagazine.com\/article\/archival-testimony-fragments-minersong\/\">archival testimony fragments \/ <em>minersong<\/em><\/a> by Rose Lemberg (in <em>Uncanny Magazine<\/em>): This is a poem, but it has a subtly developing plot that is just awesome. I highly recommend listening to C.S.E. Cooney&#8217;s reading of this poem in the <a href=\"http:\/\/uncannymagazine.com\/article\/uncanny-magazine-podcast-episode-4\/#podcast\">Uncanny Magazine podcast<\/a> &#8211; it gives the poem a whole new level of brilliance.
